While Tracie used to describe herself as “working in HR,” she now describes herself as a “Business leader specializing in People” – a change that came after her transformation from paper-first to people-first leader, and after embracing the importance of learning about the business, technology, the critical nature of relationships, the importance of a growth mindset, speaking up, and learning to always put people before profits.

We’re excited to introduce our first guest. We thought, who better than our new president of Chicago SHRM, Nicole Skaluba.

Nicole Skaluba is currently the Vice President of Talent and Culture of physIQ. In this role, Nicole leads the human resource function for the high-growth biotech company. Her responsibilities include talent acquisition, talent management, performance engagement, compensation and benefits, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), organizational development, and learning and development. Nicole has spent most of her career building and leading the human resource function in a diverse number of organizations including those in technology, digital marketing, e-commerce, education, and manufacturing. 

Nicole holds the SHRM-SCP and SPHR certifications and a master's degree in Human Resource Management and Development. She has been recognized by Crain's with their Notable Executives in HR and DEI award, has taught HR certification courses and serves as a frequent speaker on various topics. She is the president for Chicago SHRM after being an active volunteer and board member for over ten years. She is also currently the president of the Bryan Middle School PTA. Her free time is spent driving her busy teenagers to various activities as well as reading, running, and writing.
